"I'm an entrepreneur at heart. For the past fifteen years, starting an empanada business has been on my mind. My mom would come to visit from Argentina and say, 'Nobody is making empanadas in Santa Barbara! We should do it!'
Over the past three years is when it's really come to life. My mom and I started making empanadas out of our home, literally just making a few dozen by hand and having some friends buy them. Now we're making thousands.
We wanted to share this part of our culture - mate, empanadas, and wine - with the city of Santa Barbara.
It makes me really happy to get to share my culture and my roots because so much has been given to us since we moved here, so I feel like it’s a good way to give back."
My Santa Barbara Musts
"For lunch, I would recommend two great places for tacos. One is Corazon Cocina at the Public Market, which has some of the most creative, colorful and delicious street food ever. Another is Mony's Tacos in the Funk Zone, which is a nice little gem in town.
For a simple dinner, Yellow Belly is a pretty cool spot and Loquita is more upscale, but it's great food and a great environment."
